About Me

My first name is Mama according to some little people in my life, but others call me Corrie. My journey to motherhood began in 2005 shortly after my husband and I were married. We had trouble conceiving so like many we tried fertility treatments. We tried in the US and in the Czech Republic. Our last try was successful, but I had a miscarriage that nearly killed me. We went back to the idea we wanted to do first and that was adoption. That worked!! Four kiddos later and we definitely have our hands full. Before John came along, I never understood the mentally ill and the behavior we so often see as we drive down the streets or read in the newspaper. I would often laugh at their behavior until I adopted a child of trauma. After 10 years, I have a whole new outlook of mental illness. I am now a strong advocate and proud parent of a child who has mental health issues. I want to share with you, the struggles to get where we are at so that your journey may not be as difficult as ours.
